Bitcoin soared to a record-high of $111,944 on May 23, just days before the Bitcoin 2025 conference prepares to make history.

Set to take place in Las Vegas from May 27 to 29, Bitcoin 2025 will reportedly be the world’s largest-ever Bitcoin event with 30,000 attendees, and 500 speakers.

Several high-profile government representatives are expected to speak, including U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, White House crypto czar David Sacks, Executive Director of the President’s Council of Advisers on Digital Assets Bo Hines, and U.S. Vice-President J.D. Vance who will headline the event.

Experts believe Vance’s speech will touch on Bitcoin’s role in America’s future and financial jurisdiction.

With policymakers set to not only attend but speak, the level of administration involvement resembles a budding relationship between the White House and cryptocurrency. Bitcoin’s stock has piggybacked off President Donald Trump’s pro-crypto stance, alongside Vance’s public concern over the current regulatory framework.

“The regulation under the trump administration has put a far friendlier regulatory green light on crypto allowing for the long-awaited ‘crossing the chasm’ and bridging institutional wealth into the crypto markets,” Denham Preen, co-founder of Float Capital, a peer-to-peer crypto company providing leveraged returns without overcollateralization and liquidations, tells FORBES AFRICA.

Bitcoin reached a former record-high of $106,181 on January 22 this year, two days after U.S. President Donald Trump’s second inauguration, before hitting a year-low of $76,273 on April 9 (also reportedly following Trump’s tariff announcement).

The marquee event in Las Vegas hosted by BTC Inc., a platform assisting companies in Bitcoin adoption, conveniently coincides at a time when experts appear more bullish on crypto than the traditionally stable gold. JP Morgan recently forecasted the former to show stronger growth for the rest of this year.

“It’s easy to see Bitcoin outperforming gold this year… Bitcoin’s market cap is still far smaller than gold and having a similar purpose and now with accessible bitcoin investment opportunities, it’s easy to see capital moving from one market into the other,” Preen adds.

With Bitcoin reaching record highs and piquing traditional investors’ attention, Bitcoin 2025’s roster of influential speakers arrives at a moment that feels almost inevitable, another quiet blow to the old guard of traditional finance.
