Research Methodology

The FORBES AFRICA 30 Under 30 nomination process is a meticulous one, intended to ensure that only the best candidates are chosen every year. For the 2026 cohort, the nomination process began in late 2025, with thousands of young Africans across the globe submitting documents to be verified and vetted by the editorial team with the help of South African accounting and advisory firm, SNG Grant Thornton, who combed through identity documents, tax clearance certificates, bank statements, audited financial statements and more, to ensure authenticity and viability. We also asked candidates to submit police clearance certificates and letters of good standing from their financial institutions. The extensive review also included evaluations to ensure that the founders, executives and leaders on the list are fostering healthy workplace cultures. Applicants for this year's list are 29 or younger as of March 30, 2026. Following one-on-one interviews with the list's curator, FORBES AFRICA then consulted with a panel of distinguished, independent, subject matter experts from the business, technology, health/science, creative and sports sectors to help determine the final selection. This list is only a small subset of the remarkable pool of young talent that exists across the continent, and those who prove deserving will undoubtedly be featured on these pages in the months and years to come.
